Here at Planet X, we're very proud of the quality that we can ensure by controlling every stage of the production of our bikes, from blueprint to bike rack. It also means we can offer unparalleled value for money by weeding out all the unnecessary costs. Now we've pushed ourselves harder than ever, every step of the way, to bring you the very best road bike for your money. The result: our best-selling Pro Carbon frame, kitted out with Shimano's race-level Ultegra 6800 11-speed groupset, FSA Team 30 wheels and our own high-quality finishing kit. The comfortable, versatile frame makes for a bike that can and will do everything on a road and a wide range of customization options allow you to tailor the bike to your needs and your uses. With some of the best drivetrain performance on the market today, it's a bike you won't want to upgrade for years to come. Weighing in at only 7.9kg for a medium, it's light too.
The versatile geometry of the Pro Carbon frame excels in any number of road applications. The mid-sized headtube keeps you in a moderate riding position, neither high enough to compromise aerodynamics nor low enough to be uncomfortable on longer efforts. The high quality Toray T700 carbon fibre construction provides stiffness where you need it and compliance where you want it. Skinny seat stays soak up road buzz and bumps while the compact front triangle and tapered headtube provide front-end stiffness and confident, responsive handling. Relaxing club rides, tough training sessions, challenging sportives or competitive races... the Pro Carbon shines at them all. Move your saddle forward and add some clip-on aero bars and you've got a great platform for trying out time trial or triathlon. It's not just a jack of all trades: it comes pretty close to mastering them all as well.
Many manufacturers advertise bikes with a certain groupset, only to fit the bare minimum components to get away with using the right brand names in their adverts. That's not what we're about at Planet X and when we say that you're getting a bike with a Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset, that's what you're getting. Brakes, derailleurs, shifters, crankset, the whole hog. Full integration, full compatibility; all components working as intended in perfect tandem with each other to provide 11 speeds of smooth, assertive shifting. Not that the parts aren't impressive by themselves as well. The crankset features the same innovative asymmetric 4-armed design as Shimano's top-end Dura Ace which drops both weight and increases stiffness. Further weight reductions are made courtesy of the newly refined ergonomic STI shifters with carbon levers. The brakes benefit from dual pivot actuation with improved modulation and increased stopping power. The oversized front derailleur arm reduces the amount of lever throw required during shifts, making switching rings easier than ever, and feedback conistantly positive. Shimano are reknown for the technological ingenuity of their products and Ultegra 6800 is the embodiment of their single-minded commitment to continually improving performance.
The Pro Carbon is often suggested as a great first road bike because of the pricing, and it certainly is that. But it also provides better performance than many more expensive options, matching the 'best bikes' of seasoned racers. Partnering it with Ultegra 6800 for the same Cycle to Work defying price as ever, just puts it in a whole new category. Whatever your requirements, whatever roads you want to ride, the Planet X Pro Carbon 6800 is the bike you want at a better price.

All frame size recommendations are approximate. A good fit will also depend on the correct choice of stem length, correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style.
Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for a slightly shorter stem. If you think you are borderline between sizes, and you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for the smaller frame size. If you have shorter legs and a longer torso, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.
As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.
My first Carbon Bike and I certainly took some time looking around at different manaufacturers. I finally decided on the Pro Carbon and wouldnt look back.Spec is great, its comfortable, fast and looks fantastic in Matt black.negatives - I'm not to sure of the saddle (personal choice)and in comparison to my Giant the front end feels light and will take a little time to get used to.My customer service experience was not great, however saying that I contacted the Edinburgh store that has just opened and they sorted my problem out within 1/2 hour so Thanks Stuart.overall I would highly reccomend this bike.
Works really greate
they were great with everything... thanks guys!!!
The bike and service from Planet X is A1. This is great value for money for a full carbon bike with quality components. Would recommend to anyone who really wants to get the most out of road cycling with a 1000 budget.
Great bike and equipment very pleased would give it 10 stars if able. Hill climbing definitely improved very responsive and nice to have precise immediate gear change for once even under pressure!!!
I know, assembling the bike is not such a complex task, but I would have been glad to have a short assembly manual just to assure I did not forget a screw or anything.
Amazing bit of kit. My first ever carbon bike. Took it out on a 104km ride yesterday got 25 PRs on strava. Smooth and rapidly responding. I love it. Thanks Planet X for making carbon afordable!
Great Bike, ridden for 3 months pretty much daily and it is a great ride. Only let down by the saddle for me, but that's a personal preference and has now been replaced. On arrival there was some cable damage to the rear brake cable. the Planet X team were quick to resolve this issue, even though i am in Australia. Thanks
My first carbon bike and I can truly say this bike is amazing! The kit you get for the price tag is unbelievable. The ultegra group set on a full carbon for under 1000 there is no other bike that can touch this. It handles so well and the difference in weight and power on hills has changed the way I now ride. I would recommend Planet X to anybody for speed of service, quality of build and fantastic equipment. I would give this bike 10 stars if there was an option.
Haven't bought it yet, still saving and will be getting it ready for the Ride London 100. But having thoroughly researched the market, as anyone would spending this amount of money. You can't find a carbon bike with these quality components with the weight ANYWHERE. Just wish they had a shop in SW London.
Good products but poor customer service. I raised a query regarding the delivery as they didnt provide the tracking number. The query was just ignored so I wasnt able to check when the bike would be delivered. As much as I like the bike I dont think I would order from them again as if there were problems I wouldnt have confidence they would be resolved.
Thought i would join the 21st century and got this through my bike to work scheme in matt black,in the words of my 6 year old son AWESOME.He was right had it a week now goes like a dream now my trusty 18 year old cannondale is sitting in the corner feeling sorry for it's self,i thought that bike was light till i got this.Thank you planet x.
Extraordinary value for money, rides and looks sensational.
The pro carbon is great value for money, and a great ride. My previous bike was an aluminium hybrid as I only have this to compare with, the pro carbon is streets ahead in terms of comfort, performance and quality.
Got this bike in gloss red looks awesome!! the bike blow me away spent a bit on customising but well worth it! Got the bike to go across Ireland 3 days 360 miles should be easy on this bike light and fast!
Light fast awesome!
Great lightweight bike, bought with Christmas discount of 100. Shimano Ultegra 6700 groupset and full carbon frame cant be cost cheaper. I installed Look Keo pedals, with it my small size bike weight 7.8 kg.Sory for bad English :)
Not ridden it yet due to the weather. But looks like what it says on the tin.
Had it 3 days, first ride was excellent it wants you to sit in the saddle and power up hill and when you do get out the saddle no power is lost at all, on decents just point the bike where you want it to go and it will go there, just remember to brake of course, the ride is ultra smooth comparing it to my other bike which os an alloy frame with carbon forks and carbon/kavlar handle bars, the gears shift nicely I am used to campagnolo shifting, this will be my summer/ sportive bike, my bike was in the clearance sale a week be4 Christmas and I got a bargain as I got added extras FSA team issue stem and handle bars & a prologo nago evo saddle all 3 worth 200 more and with 100 off means I saved 300. 1 last thing it cane with the basic planet x tire on my ride out on them for a full slick tire they stood up well I would of put on my conti GP4000 but did not have time so as the planet x tires did a good job ill leave them on.Overall great bike better then all of the sub 1500 bike market so dont be an idot get this bike.
Had my pro carbon now for nearly a month, ordered with a few upgrades (wheels and tyres) and can honestly say that I love it :) good customer service - stealth matt black is the way to go ;) Fantastic spec for the money tooI've even bought a 2nd hand Nanolight as a winter bike #convertedtoPlanetX.........
Love it. If your budget is a grand then there is no reason to settle for less by going elsewhere. The Ultegra gearing is so smooth that I had to look down to check I'd change gear on my first few rides. It's my first carbon bike and when you put your foot down the power transfer and acceleration is thrilling. I upgraded the wheels to shimano RS10 which are light, strong and look great in white rims. Currently enjoying my rides learning to throw this bike around corners and dealing with the extra speed.
when i tell people i bought this bike for a mere 1000 they cant believe it, full carbon bike with ultegra groupset, i'd love to know how planet x make a profit on this bike.i was initially concerned about the wheels on this bike but they are pretty light and give me a better ride than the mavic cosmic elites i previously used.absolutely fantastic bike for the price. i wont be looking elsewhere for my future bikes because nowhere offers this kind of value for money
What a great bike. Love it. I'm fairly new to road cycling. This bike has cemented my love of the sport. The spec is amazing. The bike is comfortable and fast. When it comes to a replacement Planet X is where I'll be heading. Keep it up guys. Can I give it more than 5 stars??
Turn it up to 11 with a carbon road bike and Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra 6800 groupset
