Known for its snappy handling and stiff, responsive ride our XLS frameset was made specifically with cross in mind. This can be seen throughout its geometry, from the flattened top tube, to the cable routing; it's all designed to keep your stopping and shifting efficient even when you're spinning your way through a deep, dense mud bath.
Although the XLS was designed specifically with racing in mind, we've adapted it by adding a flat bar which relaxes the whole affair, and makes your riding position more upright, less race-y. When combined with the lightweight XLS frameset and the up-to-the-minute disc brake capabilities, the XLS Flat Bar suddenly becomes the ultimate commuter bike, fit for roads, towpaths, mud and snow.
Shimano Tiagra 10 speed takes care of the gears and drivetrain, and is a typically reliable groupset that utilises the trickle-down technology that Shimano is famous for. This means that they've taken the cutting edge advancements from their pro-level groupsets and created a hardier, more cost-effective version as Tiagra. What you get is a sleek, refined groupset that when combined with the Tiagra flat bar shifters make it a perfect partner for the XLS Flat Bar.
What really makes the XLS excel as a true two-wheeled all rounder, is the fact that the frameset is disc specific. With the weather we get in Britain, combined with condition of the roads, disc brakes are the only way to achieve solid, dependable braking power. The Hayes CX-5 discs fitted to the XLS Flat Bar are made for the demands of the trench-like conditions of cyclocross, and therefore don't get all clogged up with mud when the weather gets biblical.

All frame size recommendations are approximate. A good fit will also depend on the correct choice of stem length, correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style.
Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for a slightly shorter stem. If you think you are borderline between sizes, and you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for the smaller frame size. If you have shorter legs and a longer torso, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.
As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.

Good quality bike for the money. Nice and light, makes a good fast commuter bike. Seating position is just right, gears and brakes are spot on.The only downside was the lack of information on torque settings and maintenance ,etc This bike being my first quality bike for a lot of years some sort of info pack would have been helpful.
