The Really Bad Idea Pick Your Own Promo - PYO20
Is this my Stupidest Idea Yet?
Get 20% Off and Come Meet us and Pick it Yourself (the parts !)

This is probably one of the worst and most stupid ideas I have had but lets give it a whirl because it might be entertaining for some interested customers. Entertaining and even informative.

As we just had a cracking month of bike sales our bike build queue has jumped a little and is hovering between 10 and 14 days. In todays world of instant gratification that is a bit too long for some.

We of course released a Build Your Own option on Wednesday for the mechanically minded and I was riding back last night bouncing along on the canal path contemplating a few things.

One thing that constantly surprises me, though it should not given our Kim Jong Un North Korean marketing department, is how little customers and even suppliers know about us and indeed our inner workings. There was a bizarre thread on road.cc a few weeks back claiming we ran a warehouse run with a staff of unhappy zero hour contracts and made staff work under a dripping sink and eat worms. This has been on my mind a bit as I genuinely think we have a good staff morale and everyone is pretty happy with what is going on.

Anyway, I ramble on, I think we could try a really interesting "open doors" concept where customers can order a bike but can come and pick it themselves, and then either take the parts and build at home, or maybe (Lovatt will flatten me). build it on site alongside and supervised by our mechanics.

- Order a bike

- Use PYO20 and get 20% discount

- we then book a time to come

- meet and greet, put on a vest, and be given your pick note and go pick your bike parts (accompanied by a picker)

- either go home with the parts

- or maybe (subject to a trial/test) stay and build it alongside our mechanics

Very nice people only should do this, with a big smile, and plenty of time.

It could go very very wrong.
