Planet X announces World Old Skool 10 mile Open TT

Planet X's one and only World Old Skool 10 miles championship to be held (where else but) on Ian Cammish's doorstep near Cambridge on 21 August.

While the young pretenders for Planet X's World Old Skool Championships have finished off their final preparations by sampling respected vintages from the vineyards of France during their annual 3 week jaunt topping up the tan in warmer climes, the real hardmen of our sport have preferred to keep their powder dry on the domestic scene.

Big topics of conversation this season, so far, have centred on Cancellara's phenomenal early season Classic form and the more recent showdown between messrs Contador, Armstrong, Schleck and co.  All this is about to change as the heavyweights of the sport prepare to show their hand in the biggest showdown the British Time Trial fraternity will have witnessed since 'the Power' Parkinson last kicked butt on British soil.

Fortunes have changed since the Power so convincingly won Planet X's old skool series in 2009.

Fortunes have changed since the Power so convincingly won Planet X's old skool series in 2009.  After squandering the spoils of many a successful sponsorship deal on the very best that Melton Mowbray's international cuisine (pork pies, chips and mushy peas) and hectic night-life generally (droopy draws Daphne) could throw at him, the Power has more recently fallen on harder times (see pics).  Sources have however provided feedback as to the whereabouts of the Power and his many supporters have rallied together to fund his return to top flight competition.  Having gently eased his way back in to circulation, the Power is believed to be ready to take on all-comers, including the likes of Contador, Armstrong, Schleck et al in THE event the world has been waiting for ... Planet X's one and only World Old Skool 10 miles championship to be held (where else but) on Ian Cammish's doorstep near Cambridge on 21 August. The event is to be incorporated into Team Sanjan Design's 'open' - entries close as 'Neighbours' hits your screens on Tuesday 10 August.

The entry so far (according to the event organiser Stuart Tarry) has rolled in. With only a couple of weeks to go before entries close, the competition is going to be a fierce fight for the honours ... infact if, at least, one other entry isn't received shortly, it's going to be a one horse race ... no doubt!

Besides most of those riders already mentioned, Tarry is looking forward to receiving entries from the likes of Old Skool has-beens (and regulars) Gavin 'good-man' Hinxman, Stan 'the man' Mills ... maybe even 'the bullet' Barnes ... who knows? ... but more to the point ... who cares?  Cammish certainly doesn't.  Unconfirmed reports are suggesting that he's managed to book himself a fortnight's leave of absence from anything remotely stressful (as recommended by his counseller, his doctor, his psychiatrist and his good wife). The holiday is believed to have been funded by what's left of the Power's 2009 earnings. The jury's out as to who's got the better deal. Cammish gets the sun, sea and Sangria (sex is out at his age surely?) but it looks likely that the Power has opened his own door to confirm his complete dominance of Old Skooling as we know it.
