65 Roses Sportive - 3 Weeks to Go!

65 Roses Sportive - 3 Weeks to Go!

Its now just over 3 weeks to go until the 65 Roses Holme Moss Classic on Sunday September 14th and Team Cystic Fibrosis are into final planning to make this year's fabulous event even better than last year.

Road closures through Rotherham have been agreed with the Council and South Yorkshire Police to let us continue with the massed start at 8.30am out of Magna Science Adventure Centre, through the town centre and up towards Thorpe Hesley. That's over 5 miles of closed roads, to get us out into the beautiful (and tough!) South Yorkshire countryside.

They rode the route last weekend in the company of Chris Sidwells from Cycling Weekly. Look out for the article in the next few weeks. He was very impressed with the route and thought it a great test for all abilities.

We have already announced that Planet X have offered £1000 to anyone to beat Russ Downing's Strava record up the Holme Moss 100 greatest climbs segment and go under 7 minutes. Terms and conditions obviously apply but you need to do it on the day of the race and register your Strava id as part of the registration process on the day. In the event of multiple riders doing this it will be the first person to complete the challenge. It's £1000 and it's worth a go!

The portable toilets are ordered, again there will be exclusive toilets available for female cyclists. They will be the pink ones. Team Cystic Fibrosis are committed to offering cycling events that open to both sexes and this is a wonderful visible statement of intent.

Remember that it is 65 miles over a course of 6000 feet. It is a tough route and will be a challenge for cyclists of all abilities. Although we hope you don't need it, there will be plenty of support in the background through the Red Cross, Raynet and even mechanical support from our own experts at Planet X. There will be some mechanics available at the start if you need a quick tweak of any part of your bike. Don't worry if it seems too arduous, there is a shorter route that is available and you can choose the route on the day.

The route takes in some of the most beautiful scenery in South Yorkshire and it will be a fabulous day. There are spaces available for up to 800 riders. It will make a spectacular sight as the riders make their way through Rotherham and out into the countryside.

Get your climbing legs ready! PlanetX are proud to support Team Cystic Fibrosis and the 65 Roses Holme Moss Classic is waiting to test you. Click here for more info and registration!
