Wayne Randle, Planet X Non-Sportive Bike Rides

Yorkshire hard man and former professional cyclist Wayne Randle is back with Planet X this year. Randle will be leading a "non-sportive" series of rides based on the epic training rides of the infamous "Northern mafia" that dominated road cycling in the mid-90s. The all-conquering Optimum Performance Team was in many ways the pre-cursor and seed sowing grounds that would become Planet x itself so having Randle back in the fold is a reminder of our roots.

The "Non-sportive" format has already been put to the test; kicking off last Sunday with "The Humber Bridge ride", next up is the "Boggle Hole classic" in March  and a summer-time "Filey and back" . Expect nothing - no team support, no food, no water, no waiting, it’s a simple format of tip-up, set off, go for a ride. If you can't carry it in your back pocket don't expect to see it on these rides!

Randle recently took delivery of a new Planet X EC-130 Aero Road and an entire tranche of 2016 Planet X clothing and kit. The bike has been over a year in development, it has a fully aerodynamic frameset, built from Toray 800 IM carbon fibre, using the most technologically advanced frame shaping processes available. It's finished with top flight components making this one of our crowning achievements.
Randle has been riding the bike a week now and has provided detailed critique and considered performance feedback to our head of design and former US Postal Pro Jamie Burrow– that bike’s alright – rides nice”.

Stay tuned for a detailed run down of the absolute carnage that took place on the first ride of the series, “The Humber Bridge Classic” now forever to be known as “The Hell of South Yorkshire”.
