Show-Stopping Bike Bargains At The NEC Bike Show

Show-Stopping Bike Bargains

The Planet X Pro Carbon is a legendary name within the UK cycling industry. It's the bike that first smashed the £1000 price barrier for a full-carbon road bike and since it was introduced we've never stopped refining the design and continue to work hard on sourcing the best deals on componentry so that the Pro Carbon continues to offer the very best value for money in the whole of cycling.

We love SRAM's groupsets and their Rival 22 road groupset offers a level of quality and performance that top tier pro-peloton groupsets struggled to match just a few short seasons ago. Rival's refined ergonomics and featherweight shifting make it an easy choice for serious cyclists looking to improve their riding with better performing components and that why specified it on our two show-stopping Bianco Pro Carbons.

Planet X Pro Carbon Bianco Special Edition Road Bike

To celebrate the NEC Bike Show this weekend we're launching two new Pro Carbon bikes, and they both offer amazing value for money. The Pro Carbon Bianco Special Edition at only £699.99 might just be the best value for money Pro Carbon that we've ever put together; it certainly rewrites the rule books of what you should expect from a bike manufacturer for under seven hundred pounds.

The Planet X Pro Carbon frameset is legendary and here we have the latest version sporting the latest colour schemes and paint finish options. With a versatile compact geometry, the Pro Carbon is the ideal first bike for new or returning cyclists. It provides a stiff and efficient pedalling platform and confidence-inspiring handling that helps the bike to feel instantly familiar- it's just right. We've paired the full-carbon frameset with SRAM's latest Rival 22 groupset. SRAM set the cycling world alight when they introduced their top-spec 11-speed groupsets a couple of seasons ago. This technology has now trickled down to Rival 22 and this groupset is lighter, faster, better looking and more durable than ever. Rival 22 set a high watermark for mid-range groupsets that other manufacturers struggled to follow; when you ride a Rival 22 bike it's easy to see why this feels like you'd expect much more expensive components to feel like.

Selcof finishing kit provides the basis for the Bianco theme, a lightweight alloy stem, seat post and handlebars offer striking looks that can't be ignored on the road. No matter which frame colour you choose they compliment it perfectly. San Marco's Start Up saddle is the perfect seat for a cyclist who doesn't have thousands of miles in their backside already. It's slightly broader than a more race oriented perch and features a touch more padding that you'll be grateful for after your first really big ride.

With a compact chain and Wifli rear cassette with a broad gear ratio, Rival 22 will help you fly up the hills. Vision's Team 30 clincher wheelset uses a modest 30mm deep profiled rim to connect you to the road. Built for the rigours of competitive cycling the Team 30 offers a touch of aero performance without breaking the bank. In fact, at only £699.99 you probably won't even need to go to the bank to ride away on the new Bianco Special Edition Pro Carbon.

Planet X Pro Carbon Bianco Premium Edition Road Bike

Bianco, but it's green? We know, Bianco is the name we give to our bikes that are decked out in white finishing kit, you can buy either the Special or Premium Edition show bikes in any of our regular Pro Carbon colours.

If The Special Edition is a little bit special then the premium Edition is a whole lot of special. We've retained the SRAM Rival 22 Groupset and FSA Gossamer Pro brake calipers groupset from the Special Edition and gone to town on the rest of the bike. We've upgraded the wheels to Vision's incredible T42 carbon clinchers (RRP £699.99). These lightweight aero hoops blend the wind cheating performance of a carbon fibre aero fairing with the superior braking power delivered from an alloy rim. Better wheels deserve better tyres and we've pulled no punches with Hutchinson's Atom Folding tyres. With a high-friction compound, low rolling resistance and a race oriented puncture belt they'll have you committing to corners later and harder.

It's not just a top-flight set of wheels that make the difference on the Bianco Premium Edition. We've upgraded the saddle to the racier Concor model from San Marco. With a narrower, more curved profile it lets you ride on the rivet to put down maximum power. A great saddle is nothing without great support and we've upgraded the seat post to Selcof's remarkable MC03 carbon monocoque unit; lightweight, high strength with great looks and featuring a twin-bolt micro-adjust cradle it's as functional as it is good-looking.

If there's another full-carbon road bike out there with carbon wheels at anywhere near this price we'll be very surprised. If there's one that can match the performance on offer as well as the specification then we'd be utterly amazed. At only £999.99 we know the Planet X Pro Carbon Bianco Premium Edition is simply unbeatable!
