Yorkshire Grand Depart 2014 - Stage One

Yorkshire Grand Depart 2014 - Stage One

As I'm sure you're all well aware, this year sees the world's greatest cycling race, the Tour de France, hit Planet X's home county of Yorkshire. We're all incredibly excited about it, and couldn't wait until July to see the parcours unfold. We thought it would really special to be able to see the terrain with a rider's-eye-view, so we rigged a GoPro video camera to a car and drove the length of the stage, from Leeds and Harrogate, via Skipton, Illkley, Ripon et al.

This has given us a unique preview for the action waiting for us later in the year. We're sending links to all the big players in the pro peloton and expect the video to be a great tactical aid, if only for prior warning on the pothole situation... there's quite a lot of them. However, to scope out the best place for an attack, spot the tricky corners in advance, and for us spectators looking to find the best spots to watch our favourite riders, this video will be a godsend. Here's the video (sped up to a coffee-break-compatible 15 minutes) and the vital statistics:
