NEC Bike Show Prize Draw Winner Collects

If you didn't come down to see us at the NEC Bike Show this year then you missed out; not just on seeing all our latest and greatest bikes as well as our upcoming releases, but also on the chance to be entered into our £2500 prize draw.

We were swamped with entries, literally thousands of you couldn't resist the opportunity to try and win £2500 worth of Planet X or On-One kit and filled in a form and popped it into the box. It took us a while to sort through them all and load them into our patented 'randomized person picker' to select the lucky winner. Richard Walton was drawn out of the computerized hat and told of his 'winningness'. To say he was stoked was an understatement.  A cyclist for 20+ years, he couldn't believe his luck, especially as he'd only come to the bike show to check out Planet X at the last minute with one of his friends.

With £2500 of store credit and over 100 different road, cyclocross, TT and mountain bike models to choose from Richard took a little while to decide which bike he wanted. Once he'd made his mind up our mechanics built his perfect bike up for him and yesterday he turned up for his Retul Bike Fitting session before taking his pride and joy home with him.

Richard chose our new RT-90 road frame, super lightweight and built for serious days in the saddle. Because he was building his dream bike he wanted it kitted out with Shimano's Di2 shifting so chose the Ultegra Di2 groupset. He chose Fulcrum's incredibly well regarded Racing 3 Dark label clincher wheelset. Finishing kit came from our in-house brand Selcof and was finished off with San Marco's Aspide Racing saddle with their Xslite titanium alloy rails. 7kg of cycling heaven!

Any good bike fit starts at the bottom and works its way up and that's exactly what we did for Richard. Michael, one of bike fitters, started by aligning Richard's new cleats on his shoes and spent the next two hours dialling in his saddle height, set back and tilt. Tweaking his stem length and rise and adjusting his handlebar angle until everything was as close to perfect as possible. With the benefit of Retul's 3D motion tracking camera Michael was able to dial in Richard's optimum position to ensure his comfort and pedalling efficiency on his new bike.

We threw in a couple of cups of coffee for good measure and a print out of his Retul fit data and helped Richard load his bike into the car and he was off, back to Stratford on Avon and his Gastro Pub The Broom Tavern in Alcester. If you ride in the area and see him out and about stop him and ask him how he's getting on with his new Planet X RT-90 (and all about his amazing 42 day aged steaks).
