Jamie's Top Tip for Riding in the Sun

A fashion statement or a simple but effective idea?

In the days before compulsory hard shell helmets, Ex World tour classics star, Andrea Tafi was famously visible in a cut off cotton cap. This is something that I've adopted for the summer months even with the use of a safety helmet.

Although not compulsory in the uk for day to day riding, I would always recommend the use of a helmet. Some people would argue that the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather makes helmet use to hot and uncomfortable. A cotton cap and a pair of scissors is a fast and simple solution to this. Cotton caps are very lightweight and will keep the sweat from running into your eyes. The peak will keep the direct sunlight off your face, but the cut off top will allow fresh air to filter through the helmet vents and keep you cool!

Plus you can always find a use for the left over bit
