The N2a is the most serious technical road bike we've ever produced.

The N2a is for riders who want to go fast. Riders who like speed. Riders who like to attack climbs, rail corners, chase down unknown riders up ahead on the horizon. Riders who are addicted to adrenaline and sweat. Riders who treat rides like races.

Building on the geometry and handling of our Nanolight model, the N2a is designed to be an aerodynamically efficient road frame that also has agile and consistent handling so that it can cope with the dynamic loads required by riders wanting a machine that handles.

To satisfy these riders the N2a has low-slung racy geometry combined with an extremely responsive tuned chassis feel.

The N2a is not teeth-rattling harsh, thanks to intelligent use of Toray T700 nd T800 high-modulus carbon fiber. And unlike many internal-cable frames, carefully-designed guides make it mechanic-friendly: fitting the cables is a doddle, says our man-in-the-know Tom Hodgson.

Like our Exocet 2 time trial frame, the N2a was designed in collaboration with renowned Italian bike designer Roberto Billato, a frame-builder and carbon fibre specialist with over 30 years' experience. Roberto's unrivalled knowledge of carbon fibre design and construction means you can depend on the N2a to offer you amazing performance.

Another key member of the N2a's design team is Mark Lovatt, six times winner of Tour of The Peak. Mark's hard won northern riding experience is another part of what sets Planet X apart from other manufacturers. Mark also oversees all bike specs and builds in our warehouse.

As well as being the most serious technical road bike we've ever produced, the N2a is one of the best looking road bikes we've ever produced. There's something special at work when a no-compromise piece of bicycle design and engineering looks as sharp as it rides. Our graphics department really excelled themselves with the N2a.

The bottom line with the N2a is that we wanted to combine several performance aspects into one package to give true high performance race ready technology at a price and availability level that had never been done before.

•High-modulus carbon fibre.

•Profiles based on US National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) system for optimised aerodynamics.

•Hugely oversized head tube.

•Amazing stiffness under power and aggressive handling.

•Integrated fork/down tube - gets the air flow nicely around the fork and over the down tube.

•Taper-steerer aerodynamic fork for low drag and better handling on twisty courses.

•BB30 bottom bracket for maximum rigidity and power transfer.

•Seat clamp is flush with the top tube improving both aesthetics and aerodynamics.

•Rear gear cable is fully internal.

•Aero seat post and clamp.

Our carefully chosen uncompromising build kit for the N2a is spot on. Planet X Carbon clincher wheels offer a punchy, responsive ride and their aluminium braking surface ensures consistent, powerful and predictable braking. FSA carbon BB30 chainset is super stiff under pedalling. The Nanolight Ergo Drop carbon handlebars are not only super light, they're super comfy, really damping down the road buzz.

The N2a is already creating quite a stir in the cycling press...

"Swing those bars about and there’s next to no flex through the fork and head tube; none of that mushiness you can get when you sling your weight over the front and get all punchy. And we would never use a tired old cliché like ‘this bike corners like it’s on rails’ but if we did go in for that type of thing, that’s what we’d say. It’s accurate, there’s no doubt about that." -

"What I can tell you is that I enjoyed riding the N2A. It’s an exciting bike. I like a bike that responds quick, steers fast and accurately, and can hang out with the fast boys in a sprint. I like to get the maximum speed for my effort and I get arsey if I think I’m being short changed. If you’re similar, this bike is worth a good look." -

In a size L, a finished N2a frame weighs 950g, with all necessary hardware.
