Bike test: EC-130 E wins big Aero group test with 10s

We’re excited to see a whole range of our bikes getting great reviews in the cycling press that’s been dropping through our letterbox just recently.

One highlight is Cycling Active (a magazine from the same stable as Cycling Weekly and Cycle Sport) rating our British-designed and assembled EC-130 E the best, ahead of bikes from Specialized, Scott, BMC and Ribble, in a group test of Aero Road Bikes.

The Planet X EC-130 E wins the Cycling Active summer edition test scoring ten out of ten for specification and value for money.

“Planet X’s EC-130 E offers a lot and if it [the test] was purely based on value it would have no competition,” they write in the 14-page feature.

"It makes you really question why other bikes cost so much"

Adding, “It comes with a set of £1,500 wheels and an Ultegra groupset, it makes you really question why other bikes cost so much.”

The magazine tested and rated five “reasonably priced” aero road bikes and also asked “can an aero bike ever be a machine for the every day?” Their conclusion was that “all-day comfort was in the design brief” and the frame “not only performs aerodynamically but also looks and rides well enough to be your everyday bike.”

Cycling Active also point out that another beauty of the EC-130 E is the ability to choose a different set of wheels or other componentry.

Looking overall they conclude that it’s “hard to look past the value and componentry” of the EC-130 E which is a “really well designed great ride” which is also a winner because of it’s “aggressive go-faster look.”

Race winning

If you race, then the EC-130’s race-winning performance is sure to attract you. This is the bike that has been ridden to over 30 race victories this season by the Planet X-Northside team alone.

Cycling Active urge you to “make the leap” to an aero bike and they rate the EC-130 E the best!
