World Masters / Sydney / 13 Day

World Masters / Sydney / 13 Day Blogging live from the track today. Busy day with the Scratch Heats, Team Sprint Heats and then the finals. So Monday was a long day. Massage in the morning then off to the track. Sat around all day waiting... and waiting... Eventually got to ride after 8pm. Was in Heat 21. Felt good. Fastest time posted at the time was around 1:07.5. I got a good start and did an opening lap of 20.5, not the fastest but still solid, backed that up with a 15sec lap... then the legs started to die. Eventually posted a 1:09.219. At the time I was 3rd fastest with 8 rides still to ride. I eventually ended up 6th. 1st: Justin Grace NZL - 1:06.280 2nd: Gavin White AUS - 1:07.166 (He won the gold at the Games) 3rd: Carl Cubitt AUS - 1:07.234 4th: Adam Simonelli AUS - 1:07.679 5th: Lou Pascuzzi AUS - 1:08.514 6th: Adam Roberts GBR - 1:09.219 Was disappointed with my time... Was on a 1:07.5 schedule, but even that would not have put me on the podium. The winning time was really fast. Yesterday I just chilled at home. Relaxed and eat... This morning I woke up at 3:30am... Aggg! Could not get back to sleep. Back at the track at 8am. First event was the Scratch Race Heats. I was in Heat 2. Was very messy, lots of bumping. Was a close call, went to photo finish... Waited ages for the result to be posted. I was 11th, 12 got through. Made it through to the final. Job done. Now resting before the Team Sprint at 1:30pm. Got to hang onto Legro and Iver Reed. Back when that's done and dusted...
