Tour of the North Kicks Off Today

Tour of the North Kicks Off Today

The 2010 edition of the P&O Tour of the North will take to the roads of Northern Ireland over this weekend, Friday 2nd to Monday 5th April.

The event attracts over 100 top cyclists from across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Last year's winner Martyn Irvine, who lines up with the Planet-X team, is just back from the Track World Championships where the Irish pursuit team was just half a second off on beating their own personal best over the 4000m distance.

The Tour of the North takes place over four days, getting underway with a short Time Trial stage in the grounds of Stormont Castle in Belfast this afternoon, April 2nd at 6.30pm.

The race has undergone some major changes for 2010, with the loss of the Sunday morning Time Trial, to be replaced with longer stages throughout the weekend, making for a longer, tougher event.

Frank Campbell, the Planet X team manager, will be sending real time race updates via twitter. If you're on twitter, make sure you follow planetxbikes.
