All set for stage two glory...

All set for stage two glory...

The RAS is now underway and the first stage is over. I was dreading it at 11am this morning but once the flag went down the nerves had gone and it was hammer time.

The speed soon lifted and the race was on! I even managed to get to the front at one point, which in my books put me in Yellow on the road. Didn't stay there for long as the attacks came thick and fast.

The field was soon split into fourof five groups on the road and as we topped the first Cat 3 KOM climb the elastic was beginning to snap for some. At this stage the PX boys were all in the second group on the road with 8 riders away.

Cross winds, attacks and plenty of pissing around and the 2nd group was split nxt "old dogs don't die" Lovatt moved up the group and along with Roger launch an attack that saw them regain the main chase group and keep in contention.

Keeping my eyes firmly set on taking Yellow on day 6 I decided to stick with the 3rd group on the road and pedalled in. Only losing 20 minutes on GC I am perfectly placed to pull a covert attack tomorrow and regain 10 minutes and also win the stage that has eluded Lovatt in his 12 years of trying.

Crusier, head mechanic, said at dinner, "Me uncle's me dar" and then revealed his born an inbred tee-shirt. This followedhis pre-race advice to me this morning "hold the wheel and just remember the person at the front must be a human". Well after about 100km today I am not sure they are all human.

I have no idea about GC as I write this but I do know that if I had sprinted to the front at the end I could have gained at least 30 places.

Tomorrow is my day....watch this space...I have dropped into the background now I am coming back:-)
