PXs Martyn Irvine wins Swords GP

Planet X team rider Martyn Irvine has done us proud by winning the Swords GP in North Co. Dublin.

The Swords GP started in Ballyboughal and shortly after the start Martyn Irvine instigated a breakaway. The race used the old Liam Toolan circuit that had the Nevitt climb.

First time up the climb Stephen Sullivan led the breakaway group over the top. Paul Griffin was at the front of the chasing bunch about 35 seconds back. The lead group was down to six riders, Irvine punctured out of the break and had to chase back on. On lap 5, Irvine has got back to the front group which is now down to four riders with only one lap to go.

The finish was on the top of the climb and Irvine came home to win on his own.
