British National TT Champs Race Report

British National TT Champs Race Report

After a near 4 hour journey down to south west Wales Ryan competed in the British National TT champs an event run by both the CTC and BC. After some grueling bikes checks and some fancy hack sawing of tri bars to shorten them Ryan was ready for the off.

Ryan was off 2nd to last with the 'engine' Connor Dunne 2 mins behind him. At the half way point Ryan was up on his rival Oliver Rossi by 10 seconds and seemed the same time as Connor Dunne.

Pipped at the post

In the end the time was Connor Dunne of the Glendene CC as champ with a time of 44mins 02 secs for the 30km, 2nd place was Daniel McLay of Hargroves cycles (national road race champ and world junior madison champ) with a time of 44.14 and Ryan with a time of 44: 15 just piped by a second for 2nd place.

Medal denied

Unfortunately Ryan was not allowed to receive any medals from British Cycling as he has an Irish racing license but never the less will receive a medal from the CTC for his 3rd placed effort. It is worthy of note that the two juniors that beat him are second year juniors aged 18 and will be senior level next season. Ryan of course will be a 1st year junior next season.
