Triathlon: Morrison takes 2nd at ITU World Cup in Japan

Planet X triathlete Aileen Morrison continues her impressive run of results with a 2nd place at the Ishigaki ITU World Cup in Japan.

The result follows on from her 2nd place finish in the Quarteira European Cup in Portugal where she completed the 10km run in a mere 35 minutes.

Aileeen has spent a lot of this year concentrating on improving her swimming performance and this training paid off in Japan where she exited the water in 2nd place. The transition on to the cycling stage went okay (26 seconds) and she was swiftly off among the leading pack on the 40km bike course.

After the bike came the final stage, the 10km run. Aileen duked it out with a Canadian competitor for 2nd place and managed to out-sprint her rival to take 2nd place overall.

Kathy Tremblay won in a time of 2:05:38 with Morrison 20 seconds back and Sarah-Anne Brault in 3rd.

Aileen: “I’m pleased with silver. Obviously a little disappointed I couldn’t have a chance at the gold but Kathy had an amazing race and she ran really well so fair play to her.”
