Schmatzi Ready for KONA

Schmatzi Ready for KONA

Wolfgang Schmatz, our 50+ Ironman World Champ is ready for his Title defence, riding his Planet X N2A road bike in one of the hardest triathlon events in the world.  It is hard to imagine 50 year old guys are going mid 9 hours in Kona!

Schmatzi pretty much cleaned up last year -

- winning by over 20 minutes but things won’t be so easy for him this year as he is one year older and some younger guys have just moved up from the 45-49 category.  He will be relying on a solid ride on his Exocet 2 and backing up with a fast run, where he distanced himself from the field last year with a 3:10 Marathon!.

Having been injured much of the summer, Schmatzi was well rested and 100% going into his Kona training block and excited for the trip back to the big Island.

Alles roger! Bin nach langer zeit wieder gesund! Werde am 2.10 nach kona fliegen! N2a ist ein Traum! Hammer war in den Bergen viele Male mit dem Rad super!!!”

Living in the very south of germany, Wolfgang loves to head down to the Alps to do his strength endurance in the mountains and he has been loving his new N2A while getting that work done.  Well we wish all the best to our young german rider in his final weeks of training and hope he gets to the startline safe and healthy on Oct. 12.
