Hans Nilsson - New Year

Hans Nilsson - New Year

I spent Christmas back in Denmark with family, friends, and a whole lot of food; returning to Germany for New year. The everyday routine has returned, but I will not complain, as we are have started our four training camps in Fuerteventura.

The other weekend I was in Italy to find some snow, and do some XC skiing. For me a quite new discipline but something that I really like doing. My technique is getting better, but as soon as the track is getting icy and technical I am getting chicked by Susanne, that has a technique level way higher than me. I am moving forward though, and once in while I even get to overtake someone (mostly when that someone is having a break or looking for directions).

This alternative movement is good though, and something that has always worked well for me in the winter season. Swimming biking and running until you drop is great, but even three sports is at some point getting a routine when you do it long enough. Now it is time to get back into the routine though and focus on the swimming, biking and running, to get ready for the season.

This season will be a little different, as I will try out the Xterra series, Off road Triathlon mostly on the olympic distance. Swimming is normal to standard triathlon, then mountain bike and trail running. It sounds hard, but I am really looking forward to try out something new.

First though I is getting time for the training camp in Fuerteventura. The first camp was quite small, compared to the 100+ athletes camps that we host in the coming months, but it was a good way to get in to it again, enabling focus on my own training. Also, it's good being in the sun again, training in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.

2013 is in the books and it is time to look forward on the coming season.

I hope you guys have had a great beginning to the year, and hope to see you out training or at the races.

Take care,

Hans
