Race Report Round-Up

Last weekend was proved to be a busy and fruitful week of racing for Planet X and On-One riders, with exceptional results all round. As the weather improves, the races in all disciplines are coming thick and fast, so expect to be hearing a lot more as the season progresses.

Fran Bungay followed up her sprint gold last year by stepping up to the longer distance and achieving a fine silver medal, at the ETU Powerman European Duathlon Championships in Horst. With the new distance, the challenges and efforts change considerably, making Fran’s silver even more remarkable. In fact, the distance is three times that of the sprint, incorporating a 5km run, 60km bike and 2.8km run.

“Very, very windy, and far too early to in the season with much too much running, but I’m pleased to pull a silver medal out the bag”, Fran Bungay. The British team managed to achieve a total of 53 medals over the course of the competition, including 17 golds.

Eimear Mullan won the 17th edition of the Triathlon de Portocolom with a time of 4:02:26 for the 111 format, amidst fine weather conditions in Mallorca. Eimear set the last K on fire, overtaking Austrain Eva Wutti to claim her third victory in the race, an indication of her early season form.

“I know that I had to run faster than the others to be the winner again. I know the Sant Salvador roads well. This is a beautiful race, and I’m so happy to win here for the third time.”, said Mullan. “It’s where I got my first professional victory a few years ago; I love this event, it’s so special.”

Team Codeine's debut outing took place in Scotland on the weekend. Riding in the first round of UK Gravity Enduro, the rain came down and made things a bit more interesting, with James Crossland getting a bit hurt and Rachael Gurney finishing up 3rd overall. Check out the full race write up here:
