Team IDEA Rides to Victory

After five tough stages of racing Team Idea have come through the 59th annual Tour of Slovakia victorious. After a strong performance in stage 1 and 2, the hillier sections of the race, Team Idea’s David Vigano was placed third in the overall general classification going into day 3.

The rolling hills of stage 3 saw the peloton struggle to keep together, breaks in the main group of riders allowed David Vigano to get away from his rivals and take the stage victory. Vigano’s win, on his birthday, put him first in the general classification making him yellow jersey holder at the end of the day, as well as the leader in the competition for the points jersey.

“I have won on my birthday, and that’s why I’m happy twice as much. I was third two times on this race and above that, I’m now wearing the yellow jersey”

This set a strong foundation for victory, and with some clever racing over the final two stages of the tour Vigano emerged as the overall winner of the tour taking the yellow jersey as well as the blue and white points jersey, marking the first Stage race victory of his career.

“I’m very happy that I’ve won the overall ranking. I have two jerseys. It was a little chaotic before the finish line yesterday, but today it was all fine. It was a difficult and good race.”

This represents a fine showing for Team IDEA in a UCI 2.2 classification event and is a great market of more top performances to come as the season progresses. Congratulations to the entire team.
