Merino Baselayers 2 for £50!

New Merino Baselayers have just arrived and in true Planet X style we're doing a huge deal on them. High quality 100% merino wool 190g base layer garments normally retail at £40 each but we're doing them at 2 for £50. Merino madness!

In this bundle you get 2 100% merino 190g tops:

1 x Round neck long sleeved in cobalt blue
1 x Round neck short sleeved sleeved in white

We’re extremely pleased with the quality and finish of these garments. A long time has been spent perfecting these baselayers- months of design tweaks, rider testing and searching for the highest quality manufacturers have all been worth it. We're very proud of the results. These 190gsm baselayers are the first wave of new clothing for 2011, keep your eyes peeled for new garments later in the year...

Why wear a baselayer?

Being too hot on the bike is awful; it sucks your energy and can ruin your ride. Not being able to get warm enough is just as bad.  Layering your clothing allows the rider greater flexibility and easy temperature adjustment. The baselayer is worn close to the skin to aid ‘wicking’ the transfer of moisture (sweat to you and me) away from the skin to the fabric. This keeps you nice and dry, synthetic fabrics however feel cold next to the skin when wet, during long rides this can be very uncomfortable for the rider.

Why Merino?

Merino wool has excellent wicking properties; it not only helps remove moisture from the skin, but stays warm even when wet. Which makes it the perfect choice for cycling. No matter how hard you ride you’ll never feel cold or clammy. Even when it’s hot outside, Merino will ‘wick’ away any moisture keeping you nice and cool.

Better than smelly-ester

Another real plus to Merino is that it naturally resists odours, unlike traditional Polyester baselayers that stink after one ride. Our Merino wool jerseys will last for several rides before they start to smell.

Designed for cycling

Our baselayers have been designed specifically for cycling; the length of the sleeves has been extended to prevent them moving up the arm, when gripping the bars. Designed to fit close to the body, but they don’t feel tight as the material has excellent elasticity. The back is made longer to prevent it riding up when on the bike.

Planet X Merino Wool Baselayer

Just got my 3 merinos - fantastic. My wife wants to know if there is any chance of getting some in extra small - the sizes listed only go down to small which is likely to be too big for her.

  • ChrisH

Hi, I'm also interested in getting two long-sleeve. Looks like it'd be a popular offer :-)

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

Thanks for that, Mike, it's been a long day... We're not really able to do 2 long sleeved shirts for the same price but I guess it might be possible... Give us a ring on Monday.

  • MikeM

Can I get two of the blue long sleeved tops instead of one long/obe short? Thanks! PS Both links above lead to the On-One 3 shirt deal...

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

Hi SC. These are merino baselayers, the others are jerseys. The baselayers are fine, light, warm but wicking of moisture- perfect next to the skin.

  • SC

thanks for the reply. In what way do these vary from the other Merino tops you've got listed on your website? I see there's a deal - 3 for £65 ( . Ta

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

Hi Barry, are the sizing guides making more sense now? Apologies for any confusion!

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

Sorry, SC, that was a typo. I will amend the info now.

  • Conor248

If the sizing is the same as the long sleeved Merino jersey (black/white or green/white) a Medium will fit a 38-40 inch chest.

  • SC

Mentions 3 options - cream, blue and black. But you only list blue long sleeve and cream short. Will the other options become available? or is this just a typo? Ta

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

It's one of each currently. I will look into whether this would be possible. Additionally, we've identified some errors in our sizing guide and are working to correct that. Sizing is fairly standard- buy your normal t-shirt size and you'll be about right.

  • Alexander West

Hi, can we only choose from one long sleeve in blue and a short sleeve in white or are there options for the other colours and 2 short/long sleeves?

  • Barry

I'm still confused. I'm between medium and large and my chest is 96 centimeters. Do we have to double these dimensions given here? Thanks

  • JonB (Planet X Team)

Sorry Andy, sizing chart is in cm not inches. We're addressing it now!

  • Andy

Any chance of some better sizing information? The chart can't be right - small 44? I'm looking for a 42" chest. Thanks
