James Hill Blog - Gate Crashers

On Wednesday we set out on a voyage to Lagos, a town 125km west Tavira, the town we are staying in. The reason for our trip was to go and see the start of the first stage of the Volta ao Algarve. When we arrived we expected to be walking to see the team buses and the start, but Flavio had other ideas. As we were in the team van sporting all the sponsors’ logos, he obviously saw an opportunity for some free advertising much to the horror of all onboard. Flavio headed straight for the entrance towards the high presence of security guards and police. To our amazement we were greeted and waved through the gates as though we were one of the teams competing in the event. Our feelings of embarrassment soon subsided as we reveled in the spontaneous brilliance of Flavio’s maneuver and began to wonder if he was a secret agent in a past life. However his less than discreet parking choice behind the convoy of Team Sky Jaguars led us to think that his love for cycling had clouded his judgment. Van

We all jumped out of the van and went to look around. We all scampered to our favourite team's bus. Me and Scott went straight to the Etixx quick-step bus and ran in to this chap.

We then decided to go and get ready to ride back home, so we went to get the Planet X bikes out of the back of the van and to make some of the pro riders jealous.
